The 8th Blazing Laptops Write-a-thon happened last Sunday (June 7) and I was delighted once again to participate in this annual fundraiser for my favorite writing organization, San Diego Writers, Ink.

The Writer and Her Book Tour
I named it the Great Pacific Northwest Book Tour and I’ve been on the road just over a week, driving from home in San Diego north on the Interstate first to Oakland for an overnight with my daughter, Amy, before I headed north again for Ashland, Oregon where I had my first book event at Bloomsbury’s Books, and where I got to hang out with my friend Midge Raymond. Midge just shared the good news that her novel, My Last Continent, has been picked up by Scribner! Hooray for Midge. (Midge and her husband, John Yunker run Ashland Creek Press, a small press that publishes gorgeous books with an ecological sensibility.)

You know what they say about a picture being worth a thousand words. My talented son, Chris Boyd, took such great photos at the Wild Women, Wild Voices pub party on April 11 at Liberty Station, I thought I’d let the photos tell the story. Otherwise I could go on and on for many more than a thousand words. And like I’m a novelist, Chris is a photographer; that is, there are many, many more terrific photos of the fabulous evening and I’d love to upload them all. This is just a taste.
