In the personal narrative essay, you become the editor of your own life, selecting those people, places, events, and moments that are meaningful to you and writing about them in a way that takes them beyond the personal to a place of larger truth. This eight-session class will explore a variety of essay styles such as Turning Points, Family Stories, Nature, Place, Lyric, Portrait, and others. We’ll learn the elements of good story writing, read and critique one another’s work, and talk some about getting published.
