what I wore

Often our memories are tied to our favorite clothes. Who doesn’t have that memorable little black dress, those particular jeans, the sweater we wore the time…

Using Ilene Beckerman’s best-selling memoir “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” as our inspiration, we’ll write from memory and photographs, creating stories or mini-memoirs, based on clothes, shoes, or accessories. A generative workshop for all writers (yes, men and women both), and all levels of writing experience. Bring your notebook or laptop, a few photos if you have them (remember that Easter outfit your mother made you wear, that shirt you wore for sixth grade photo, and did you really wear that in 1978?), and, if you want, your favorite outfit or accessory.

A portion of the proceeds from this workshop will go to a San Diego women’s charity.

Be sure to come to the staged reading of “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” at the La Jolla Community Center on Saturday, March 25 or Tuesday, March 28 at 7pm. Directed by SDWI Executive Director Kristen Fogle.
