family picturesFlannery O’Connor’s famous quote goes something like, “If you survived childhood you’ll have material to last a lifetime.” In this three-session class, we’ll mine our childhood memories for nuggets from which we can begin to shape stories. Working from in-class exercises and take-home assignments, we’ll try out different points of view (the voice of the child, the reminiscent narrator, another family member or witness), and genres (fiction, memoir, personal narrative). In a safe and friendly environment, participants will have opportunities to read their work aloud and to receive thoughtful and supportive response from classmates and the instructor.

For writers of all levels.
